The March long weekend trip started of much like any other... an early morning trying to remember to pack everything and sucking down a few iced coffees as we ventured forth to Coobowie in weather that was proving to be more of a hinderance than a blessing.
Kathy and Aaron were first to arrive on Saturday 6/03 at Coobowie and was plesantly suprised to find the place was not overrun with rats, mice or insects... so after a quick clean the fridge was stocked with the essential post dive substance... beer! Sarah arrived a couple of hours later and so to began our dives.
First stop was Wool Bay, which was protected from the oncoming winds making it a plesant dive filled with dozens of little Old Wives amongst the swarae of small fish not to mention a few large green liped abalone down the far end of the jetty.
As the evening fast approached we decided to head down to Edithburg Jetty for a night dive. At this point the weather was starting to take a turn for the worst and a bit of a current was moving through the area. This by no means stopped us as Kathy, Aaron and Sarah jumped into the fray and was greeted by a large number of small Cuttlefish, Striped Pyjama Squid, a few solitary Goat Fish and even one minature Dumpling Squid.
The weather turned sour on Sunday with all the close areas hammered by strong winds and currents, Leaving us all to sit around drinking a few cold beers and watching DVD's for first part of the day. By mid afternoon everyone was feeling the need to get our feet wet so we decided to try the northern reaches of the foot of the peninsula... unfortunately the currents had hit their too leaving us with little option by to head to the edithburg hotel for a big feed and a few more brews!
